9-Day Road Trip

Distance
811 km
Duration
7-9 days
Season
March - May, September - November
This road trip is made for history lovers and photographers. It follows some of Greece’s most iconic ancient sites—from the columns of Olympia to sweeping views over Nafplio from the Palamidi fortress, and through the Lion Gate of Mycenae. Days begin with breakfast under cypress trees and end with the camper parked near ruins you’ve known since school, often with the sea just a few steps away. It’s a road trip where ancient stories, golden light, and slow camper mornings come together—timeless, inspiring, and deeply atmospheric.
Stand among the columns of ancient Olympia
Walk through the Lion Gate of Mycenae
Watch sunset from Palamidi Fortress in Nafplio
Camp with sea views near historic sites
Photograph ruins in early morning light
Breakfast under cypress trees
Wander ancient paths with almost no crowds
Early mornings and late afternoons offer cooler temperatures, fewer visitors, and the best light for photos.
July and August are extremely hot, crowded, and exhausting - especially when visiting ruins with little shade. Spring and autumn are far more enjoyable for camping and sightseeing.
